NCUT organized original music competition, new resident students shine in music

       The "National Star Youth Original Music Competition" kicked off at the National Chin-Yi University of Technology (NCUT), with CEO Lai Mufen expressing the event's broader embrace of the original spirit of indigenous people and new residents. This initiative aims to interpret the diversity of ethnic exchanges and provide a stage for original musicians to "Sing Your Own Song." Among the 12 groups of bands entering the finals, Kailun Chang from Cambodia, who composed a blend of Mandarin and Taiwanese, impressed the judges and secured first place in the New Residents Group category.

       The event, co-sponsored by NCUT and Belief Light Investment Co., Ltd., features the original music competition as its centerpiece, complemented by a cultural and creative market. In the evening, attendees can enjoy performances by the well-known band Recall and an ice hockey relay performance. Nearly a hundred people gathered at the scene in the refreshing autumn breeze, enjoying delicious food and music together.

       Chairman Chen, Guo-Ding expressed gratitude to NCUT for providing this platform, noting that while Taiwan boasts a solid educational foundation and a vibrant cultural and artistic atmosphere, there is still ample room for growth in original music. The event serves as an opportunity to nurture and showcase emerging talents in the field.

       Chairman of the jury, Chao, Yi-Yi, expressed his honor to participate in the selection process, noting that despite lacking professional music training, the performances of the students amazed him. He emphasized that Taiwan possesses many future stars in the music industry.

       Judge Yan, Zi-Mao remarked that contestants utilized various techniques to fuse different musical styles, effectively expressing their emotions and experiences regarding life, family, and friends.

       Judge Xiao Le commented on the professional quality of the students' music creation, noting that their work met publishing standards in terms of recording, mixing, editing, and singing. He also highlighted their proficiency in using digital software tools and their ability to creatively span genres such as hip-hop, electronic music, and rock.

       The judges specifically mentioned the performance of Chang, Kai-Lun, a new Cambodian resident singer, who composed songs in Mandarin and Taiwanese. They praised his vivid portrayal of life in Taiwan, gratitude towards those who helped him, and commemoration of relatives who passed away while he was studying. His complete expression and impressive performance earned him first place in the new residents group.

       Other winners include Wen Qing (Ape·Nawi) of the Seediq ethnic group, who secured first place in the Aboriginal group category, Guo Youkang, who won first place in the individual group, and CITY MEMO, who claimed first place in the group category.
