Taichung-Changhua-Nantou Regional Branch, WDA, MOL takes root on campus and sets up career action center

       To cultivate young talents and support their engagement in key national industries, the Workforce Development Agency of the Ministry of Labor, Taichung-Changhua-Nantou Regional Branch (WDA, MOL), convened a symposium inviting the principals of 22 colleges and universities in Taichung-Changhua-Nantou District. The symposium focused on youth employment, providing the latest information on the Ministry of Labor's youth job search initiatives and entrepreneurial skills enhancement. Additionally, to bolster support for young people in schools preparing for job hunting, the Central Branch Office plans to collaborate with universities and colleges to establish on-campus "Youth Salon" career action centers this year. These centers will offer a career service area and resident professionals to assist students in clarifying their career direction, improving job search skills, and accessing industrial job vacancies. This initiative aims to strengthen students' employment-related knowledge, build their personal employability, and facilitate a successful transition into the workplace after graduation.

       Liu, Shiu-Chen, director of Taichung-Changhua-Nantou Regional Branch, WDA, MOL, emphasized that committing to youth employment is a shared goal of the Ministry of Labor and higher education institutions. The Taichung Branch focuses on cultivating young talents and supporting young people in planning their careers. It collaborates with administrative institutes to promote Phase 2 of the "Investment in Youth Employment Program" and proposes goals and strategies such as "setting directions, increasing talents, and promoting employment." The meeting, attended by principals and representatives from 22 schools including National Chi Nan University, National Changhua Normal University, Taichung University of Science and Technology, and NCUT, emphasized the importance of the resource link between the government and schools in providing young people with more direct and customized assistance measures needed for employment.

       Branch Director Liu further pointed out that the Central Branch has collaborated with various universities and colleges over the years to promote various youth employment measures and related subsidy programs. In addition to the "College Youth Pre-recruitment Program" launched in 2012, which is a joint collaboration between industry, government, and academia and has garnered favor from schools, it will be further expanded this year. The program is expected to establish career action centers in seven colleges and universities, which will serve as hubs for providing various services such as career consultation, career suitability testing and interpretation, resume clinics, and group job search workshops. Specialized personnel will be stationed in these centers to offer exclusive career services and activities tailored to the individual needs of schools and departments. These may include leveraging the resources of the Central Branch to conduct vocational training or talent recruitment briefings, organizing lectures on key industries, facilitating corporate visits or experiences, and more.

       In terms of software and hardware equipment, the centers will provide AR and VR industry introduction videos, mock interviews, Harry Jobs career games, small laser engraving machines, and other resources. The aim is to ensure that young people in schools under the jurisdiction will not navigate the job hunting journey alone, but will have the companionship and support of the Ministry of Labor along the way.
